BEHIND THE LENS

As a high school freshman, I took my first black and white photography class, setting the stage for my lifelong adventure of capturing, developing, and printing images. My artistic journey reached a turning point in 1997 when I studied black and white landscape photography at the Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. This experience ignited a serious passion for photography, resulting in my return in 2004 as an assistant teacher for that same class. Further honing my skills, I went on a month-long desert adventure alongside my mentor, Kent Bowser, sharpening my black and white darkroom expertise.

Upon earning a degree in Marine Biology, with a minor in art, from Eckerd College, I realized my heart belonged to the world of photography. So, for the next three and a half years, I worked as an assistant and associate photographer at Burnie Batchelor Studio in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was there that I found turning my passion into a career required more than just a good eye. Under the guidance of Master Photographer, Joy Batchelor King, I learned all facets of studio and location photography, as well as business and client management.

 

At age 26, I decided to start my own business and Seegers Images was born in a small town on the coast of Maine during the spring of 2002.  Since that time, I have operated Seegers Images in four states, including Colorado, where I currently reside with my family.

Being the mother of two amazing teenagers, I have a true appreciation for how quickly (and yet somehow, how slowly at times) all of those adorable little moments of childhood fly by. Capturing the essence of a person's natural character has been extremely rewarding for both me and my clients. Whether it's documenting the magic of newborns, capturing the unique essence of high school seniors, or creating striking business headshots, I'm all about embracing the various stages of family growth in today's fast-paced world.  I look forward to the opportunity of getting to know you and your family and creating portraits and artwork that capture your unique personalities!
